She later furthered her studies with a Master Degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy. She is also a holder of Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture, from which she graduated in distinction and granted with the Academic Excellence Award of the year. She is also a certified pilates rehabilitation instructor and is currently assisting teaching in certification courses as a mentor-in-training (MIT) for the international pilates academy - Polestar Pilates.

Karie began her career in Hong Kong’s public hospitals, a perfect place exposing to varied clinical settings and diversified clinical experiences. She commenced her private practice in 2014, there she focused on patient-oriented holistic rehabilitation approach.

Karie has special interest in treating musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and back pain, sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitation. Inspired by her overseas clinical training in Australia, Karie considers manual therapy as one of the most effective methods in facilitating patients’ recovery. Yet, she believed that only by addressing both soft tissues and joint problems could a musculoskeletal disorder be tackled, therefore, she takes chance to enrich her knowledge and enhance her skills on myofascial treatments with the Structural Integration school – Anatomy Trains. Apart from treating patients with her hands, Karie is also an accredited modern acupuncture practitioner who sees its helpfulness in pain relief and healing promotion for both acute and chronic conditions.

Karie regards exercise as another indispensable element in rehabilitation. She started her pilates journey in 2009 and became a qualified BASI Pilates, DMA Clinical Pilates and Polestar Pilates (comprehensive/ rehabilitation) instructor and later devoted herself further by taking up the role as a MIT for Polestar Pilates. Karie also implements Gyrotonic® exercises in her rehabilitation programmes as she sees the tremendous benefit of the system on body movement re-education.

Karie has also participated in on-field services in various sports events including the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, the 3rd HK Games, the Raleigh Challenge and Oxfam Trail Walker.
